FARMINGTON — A 25-year-old Rhode Island woman was rescued from the Appalachian Trail Wednesday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Maine Warden Service, Emma Sonberg of Smithfield, Rhode Island fell about 40 feet on a steep section of the trail in western Maine, near Sugarloaf Mountain.
Warden service spokesman Cpl. John MacDonald said Sonberg suffered serious injury to her right arm. He said she was able to walk out the trail to a waiting ambulance, which took her to a Farmington hospital.
